Elizabeth was born and raised in California. She moved to the Pacific Northwest to attend law school at Seattle University, and while there fell in love with the area.
During law school, Elizabeth was honored to be selected for Seattle University's Youth Advocacy Clinic, where she successfully represented juvenile clients. Later, she worked in the Felony and Drug Diversion Court units of Seattle's largest criminal defense agency.
After graduation from law school, Elizabeth continued working as a criminal defender and represented adults in misdemeanor cases. Elizabeth then decided to move to private practice, opening the Law Office of Elizabeth Mount, where for many years she represented clients in various courts throughout Western Washington on both misdemeanor and serious felony charges. In 2014 Elizabeth was invited to become an attorney for the Newton & Hall law firm, where she handles the bulk of our felony criminal matters.
Elizabeth brings a focus on each client's goals to the Newton & Hall office. She believes in truly listening to a client's story, and that this is a necessary ingredient to a successful defense. As the family member of an incarcerated person, she understands the fear, stress, and stigma that come with being accused of a crime. She takes the time to get to know her clients, their individual situations, and explains every step of the process they are facing.
Elizabeth has earned a stellar reputation, as a lawyer who handled sex crime cases, which are considered the toughest cases for criminal attorneys to successfully handle and win. She regularly educates other lawyers about handling sex crime cases. She has the experience and training to critique and perform child victim investigations, to help our clients with the process of preparing for and obtaining a phychosexual evaluation, and to develop a strategy that achieves the best result for our clients.
Elizabeth is determined to ensure that any errors in the police investigation are exposed, as well as to make sure that her client's stories are heard by the police, prosecutor, and courts.
Elizabeth is known as an attorney that will fight hard to protect the rights of every single client. While no attorney should or can guarantee any particular result in a case, Elizabeth has earned dismissals, favorable plea agreements, and not guilty verdicts through diligent and persistent representation of clients. Elizabeth is available for representation of clients throughout Western Washington, from the Newton & Hall offices located in Kent, Washington.
